Matthew Kalmar, DPM, ABPM
Matthew S. Kalmar, DPM, ABPM, is a highly skilled podiatrist who provides exceptional and compassionate care to his patients at Kalmar Family Podiatry in Huntington, New York. He’s board-certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and is board-qualified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery.
Dr. Kalmar was born and raised in Huntington, and attended Harborfields High School in Greenlawn, New York, before moving to Florida to earn his bachelor’s in Health Sciences from the University of Florida in Gainesville. After graduating, he completed an externship at Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer, Israel, before returning to New York to earn his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in New York City. He stayed in New York to complete his residency at Northport VA Medical Center in Long Island, Southside Hospital in Bayshore, and the North Shore Surgi-Center in Smithtown.
Dr. Kalmar began practicing at Kalmar Family Podiatry immediately after he finished his residency. He’s currently a member of the New York State Podiatric Medical Association. Dr. Kalmar is passionate about keeping his patients not only healthy, but also informed about their conditions. He believes that an educated patient is a compliant patient, and a compliant patient is a healthy patient.
Garrett Kalmar, DPM, DABPM
Garrett J. Kalmar, DPM, is an experienced podiatrist who provides dedicated care to his patients at Kalmar Family Podiatry in Huntington, New York. He is board-certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM).
Dr. Kalmar went to Harborfields High School in Greenlawn, New York, and graduated with his bachelor’s from Indiana University in Bloomington. He earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia and completed his residency in Providence, Rhode Island, at the Roger Williams Medical Center and the Providence VA Medical Center.
Dr. Kalmar continued his training in the podiatric dermatology/dermatopathology fellowship training program at Bako Diagnostics in Alpharetta, Georgia, and the foot and ankle arthroscopy course at the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery in Chicago.
Before coming back home to join the team at Kalmar Family Podiatry, Dr. Kalmar worked as an associate in Columbus, Ohio, treating complex wounds in a revered wound care center and performing outpatient surgical procedures. Wherever he’s practicing, he believes that the best patient care comes from establishing a relationship by listening to his patients’ needs and involving them in their treatment plan while using his expertise in evidence-based approaches to guide them towards an effective solution.
Dr. Garrett Kalmar, DABPM performs outpatient surgery out of Huntington Hospital located in Huntington, New York a highly ranked hospital apart of Northwell Health.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Kalmar stays active in his field and has published in numerous medical journals and lectured at various podiatric conferences.
In his free time, Dr. Kalmar likes to travel, spend time with his family, and participate in outdoor activities like kayaking, hiking, and skiing.
Lauren Fisher, DPM, DABPM
Lauren Fisher, DPM, DABPM, has been with Kalmar Family Podiatry since Fall 2021. Prior to joining our practice she worked in a private practice in Massachusetts for over a decade. Dr. Fisher has a vast array of knowledge in foot and ankle conditions. She is a highly experienced podiatrist with over 10 years of private practice experience in Massachusetts. Dr. Fisher is board-certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. We are excited to have her at Kalmar Family Podiatry to continue to provide exceptional patient care.
Dr. Fisher was born on Long Island and raised in East Rockaway, New York. She graduated from St. John’s University with a Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Biology all while playing collegiate Division 1 softball. She earned her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine as the class salutatorian in 2008. Dr. Fisher then went on to graduate from a three-year Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency at Massachusetts General Hospital in June of 2011.
After 10 years in private practice in Massachusetts she has decided to move back home. She has an extensive podiatric background in all aspects of podiatric care. Dr. Fisher enjoys treating patients not only in the office but in their private homes, assisted living facilities and long term care facilities.
Outside of work, Dr. Fisher enjoys spending time with her family and is involved in her children’s various extracurricular activities. She also serves as the team podiatrist for SUNY Old Westbury Athletics.
Nicholas DiScala, DPM
Dr. DiScala is a fellowship trained wound care specialist. Focusing on the treatment of complex lower extremity wounds. Earning his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Maryland. Dr. DiScala then went on to earn his Master’s of Science from Touro’s College of Osteopathic medicine.
Dr. DiScala furthered his love of science serving as Research Analyst at the Northwell Health Feinstein Institute, focusing on the field of Oncology before earning his Podiatric Medical Degree. A graduate and former Chief resident of Northwell Health Huntington Hospital Podiatric Surgery Residency program, he spent the past 5 years training in pathologies related to the forefoot and rear foot alike. Earning publications in orthopedic literature for pathology related to midfoot as well.
When Dr. DiScala is not seeing patients or in the OR you can find him on the golf course or spending time with his beautiful wife and daughters. Dr. DiScala prides himself in building strong relationships with his patients and truly enjoys healing his patients so they can get back to living their best life.
