- Warts are the most common viral infection of the skin. 7 – 10% of the general population are affected
- Plantar Warts are a symptom of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV-1; HPV-2; HPV-4). This virus can appear out of nowhere and be painful depending on where on the foot it is located
- Warts are a virus that is transmissible from person-to-person. Walking barefoot in a public shower, public swimming pool or wearing an old shoe are common places where wart lives
- Children and teens account for the majority of plantar wart cases
- Those who have already had the virus may develop more after they heal
- Warts more often than not do not go away on their own.
